Shopping...

Today we decided to split up and focus on some different activities.  Joshua, Anna & I were going to do so wandering around the shops and maybe take in a West End show while Dennis & Thomas ventured out to the RAF Musuem.   We took the tube together to Leicester Square and then went our separate ways.  We had planned to meet up again later at a pub "Mermaid's Tail" so our first order of business was to walk around the square to locate it.  Imagine our surprise when we came up empty handed.  Then we checked a phone booth, hoping for a phone book to get the address - again no luck.  Finally when we were doing another loop, I spotted a library.  If you can't get answers from a library, you're really out of luck.  It was an Asian library but fortunately they spoke English so we got the answer and yes indeed, that pub no longer existed.  Now what to do?  Simple - go shopping.  We jumped back on the tube and headed to....Harrod's!!  What an amazing store that is.  Anna & I spent an enjoyable while drooling over handbags, shoes, hats (fascinators of course) and evening gowns.  Time passed far too quickly.  If only I had an unlimited credit card balance - alas these items were not in the holiday budget.  I did splurge on a tin of tea, big spender I know.    From there we started working our way back down Picadilly Street, stopping at Fortnum & Masons (purveyor of fine foods to Her Majesty the Queen) for yet another tin of tea - there may be a pattern developing here.  After checking out the Picadilly market and one of the numerous souvenir shops, we arrived back at Leicester Square in time to meet Dennis & Thomas, a pleasant afternoon and not even one drop of rain.

  1. Interesting teas I am sure. And you'll have a story to go with that cup of tea.
